On the bay

The bay is an influential culture. Before the net, I was saying Bay area slang terms up in Eastern Washington. This was like mid to late 90's. (Before me and my friends had internet at least). Pre-youtube, Pre-Facebook. All my friends spoke with bay slang because we listened to E-40 and Mac Dre. She happens to be FROM Oakland so I give her more of a pass. I can say this culture influenced me and a lot of my friends to smoke weed and sell drugs. The bay culture was more of a movement, and not for the better. But I have a lot of love and nostalgia for those times and music.

Still, I listen to Riff Raff and I like his songs they're fun. I don't think Riff Raff is necessarily influencing anyone to do anything crazy with his music. That's not the vibe I get. But I do feel like these girls are just trying to fit in with an old hip hop culture that is dying out in my opinion. I do feel like hip hop has the potential to negatively influence the youth, but what does it matter?

Peeps should watch Ill Mind of Hopsin 5. (Hopsin - ILL MIND OF HOPSIN 5) I'm not a huge Hopsin fan but he hit the mark on that one. There is a huge underbelly of lost youth in this world and society. It's a perfect path for disaster when you mix broken homes with middle and upper class habits. You get dysfunctional functional addicts. I've dated some, and this type of music is their flagship. But again, I used to follow this culture, and I've taken a lot of game from it. But I hate the way they objectify women in the Bay. The way they disrespect human life by pimping and using women for sex and teaching those values through their music to white kids or anyone who will buy their music. It's sad, but I also wonder if the music would be 1/5th as popular if they didn't rap about thug and pimp lifestyles in that type of music.

That's my ultimate take, so I don't stand by my original comment fully. And yes, most of this stuff is just an image and most of the rappers who portray this image aren't what they say they are in their music. These girls are so sadly and obviously putting on a front. It is a "FUN" culture if you will, but inside there is a lot of cutthroat behavior going on. Lord help you if you date someone with these type of values and morals. Male or female.
